Hi Everybody,

I am using a PHP script to add news to my sites. When I add a news related to finance with the amount shown in $, then the $ is missing on the site. For example, there is an amount $1.5m. When I add this to my site, I can see only .5m. The $1 is some what deleted. Can anybody help me how to fix this problem?

For $ use \$

\ is the character used to protect special characters in PHP.

Like in

echo "\$5000";

For the euro sign, use the HTML €

For the euro sign just use € use £ for sterling.

The $ sign doesn't show up because php vars always begin with $, and it tries to find vars inside of double quotes. You could use single quotes to surround text, or use the escape character, like fLIPIS recommended.

These will both work:

$news = '$1.5m';
$news = "\$1.5m";
