First 5 rows.. please help

In MySQL, I have a news script, It was working for a while, but I tried making it so it only displays 10 articles at a time, but for some reason, it only ends up showing two..

How can I make it display the first 10?
Oh, and each article has a unique auto increasing ID number if that helps

$query = "select * from newstable order by id desc limit 10"

replace 'newstable' with the name of your table, and 'id' with the name of the unique number. That should do it.
