php in shtml - netscape issues

Hi! I am having problems with my site in Netscape. The .php pages work fine, but the .shtml pages won't load. The embedded php shows up in the location bar and Netscape crashes.

Here's what I mean:
If I type in /products/index.shtml, this shows up in the location bar: /products/<?php echo $prefurl ?>stylesheets/imsmain.css

and then Netscape crashes. It's not translating the php code. Any ideas? Everything works fine in IE.

Netcape can't read your stylesheet because it is missing from the place you're telling it is. When this happens it goes to the location it thinks that the stylesheet resides (hence it coming up in your location bar, ie doesn't do this).
This is probably because when you type out <?php echo $prefurl ?> you forgot the ";" after $prefurl. But if you forgot this I don't know why you aren't getting a parse error.
Try correcting this and looking at your source code in ie (you shouldn't see the "<?php echo $prefurl ?>" where it references the stylesheet, make sure your stylesheet is in the correct directory and try it again in netscape.

Hope this makes sense. It's not that Netscape can't render PHP code, there is definately a problem with the code your sending to netscape.

Oh, and if you try and run a .shtml page that contains php scripts, it won't work unless you have configured your server to render php through shtml.
You will have to change the suffix to .php for it to parse the php code within it.

Thanks. I think when we moved the site, we forgot to remove that one php line. The rest were removed. It just took me a while to look into it and realize it wasn't even necessary anymore.
