||- Converting Access Database to mySQL

Hi There,

I am a convert from ASP :-). I have several Microsoft Access Datbases that I want to convert to mySQL. Setting up the schema in mySQL is a cinch, I can do that with phpMyAdmin's tool.

The question is regarding the quickest way to get the Access DATA (a local file in a WIN32 environment) into the mySQL servers system (a remote folder on an UNIX system) the quickest without having to convert into a flat text file and loop through with commands to enter a record at a time.

There must be a more efficient way. Any suggestions?

Hi!

I know there are some shareware solutions for that. I guess you can even access them from Mysql website.

I am developing an Access addin just for that. Do you need to convert data in one fell swoop or you need some way to specify to which data type you need to convert?

sorry, no general solution, but as for the "looping through", you can execute a whole text file (inserts script) from the mysql shell. the command is:
