$HTTP_REFERER when using frames?

Hi,

I just found out that when using $HTTP_REFERER in a page that resides in a frame returns the url of the frames page and not the previous page in the specific frame. Is this correct?

Is there a trick in php to get the correct previous url?

use sessions and have the frameset page load a value for the referer when it first loads, then access the session variable in the other pages.

Hi guys,

Actually I found out that what I described is not always the case.

I am kinda lost now how $HTTP_REFERER works???

I use it as one of the security levels in a login procedure and (David R) it uses session variables as well. Now, when logging in $HTTP_REFERER returns the frames page itself and when going back to the main page from one of the pages, $HTTP_REFERER returns the specific page??

Richard Gardner what do you mean with 'tag'?

I splitted $HTTP_REFERER so it always returns the same value and that works. I just don't understand what is going on!
