PING

c'mon give please pinging script with this requirements:

1. script must PING without using external programs through EXEC or SYSTEM or commands!
2. script must PING ONLY ... not check ports like 21,25,80,110 and other via fsockopen, fopen and other

I can explain causes of that requirements:
1. calling external programs is VERY SLOW (check it youself 😉 )
2. I want to send ICMP packets like pure PING program without opening ANY SOCKETS.

Being that ping was written in C, you could go find the source online and check it out yourself, a conversion ffrom C to PHP shouldn't be that hard.

The guy who wrote it died in a car crash last year, now if he could figure out a way to ping from the crypt so I could vfsck him and get him to let me know the next super lotto numbers. 🙂
