FTP_GET , trying to download to the H.D.

I am trying to download a file from a ftp server to my hard disk. I tryed to use FTP_GET but this function only gets files from the ftp server to the php host server...

does anyone have an idea about how to get a file from a ftp server to a local machine(really local, not the local PHP machine)

you want to get the file from the ftp server, to the php server, and then pass it along to the browser using the header() function to set the right stream type for your browser. You follow me? (scan the archives others have wanted to do this exact same thing)

First... the script downloads the file to the location where the script itself is. You have to run the script on your local machine to let it download to your local machine. You can't download a file to other computers (at least I hope not 🙂).

Why not simply;

<a href="ftp://user:[e-mail]:port/dir/file.tar.gz">Download this file</a>

?
