Could someone debug my code?

Apache usually runs as either "apache" or "www" depending on the version. This user should have permissions to read/write to the specific file and directories. Check the permissions on the directories via "ls -l" or "ll" on the command line.

Try using ".$user." instead of "+$user+" to concatinate the string.

The '+' (plus sign) is used in Javascript while '.' (period) is used by PHP.
