include() with GET vars doesn't work

I've searched the posts but can't find this problem:

I am simply using include() with GET vars to dynamically change the values on the included page but it doesn't work.

The code is this:

include("http://anthropics.com/website/browser_activex.php?playModeOnOff=0");

and the text in the included file is:

......
<param name="showCounters" value="0">
<param name="playMode" value="<?php $playModeOnOff ?>">
<param name="volume" value="1.0">
......

This is purely HTMl. The only part that has a PHP tag is the playModeOnOff variable. The resulting page outputs the HTMl but leaves a blank space for th variable.
What am I doing wrong?

That only works if the remote server is not PHP-aware, in which case Chris wouldn't be trying to use PHP commands in there now would he? ;-)

and fopen() and include() effectively do the same thing, so that won't help either.

The only instance where the original code wouldn't work is if there is an error in the remote server's setup, something like 'register globals=off'

A forum, a FAQ, email notification, what else do you need?
