I, for the most part am ignorant to PHP. Been a designer for several years, but only now moving into this arena.
My question and reason for adding this topic concerns a recent addition I made to some of my sites. This was a counter provided by FreeWebCounter at http://freewebcounter.com.
Although I provide the URL it is, at present, not working (032602-9:00p.m. est).
My question: Is it possible for someone to use PHP in a way that will enable them to steal traffic, or redirect in anyway?
Reason: Within hours of putting their counter code on my sites, all traffic to those sites....stopped. The only traffic I could find from my stats were those I made from another computer/ISP myself.
Some of their code is:
<script language="JavaScript" src="http://freewebcounter.com/pphlogger.js.php?id=XXXXXXX"></script>
<noscript><img alt="" src="http://freewebcounter.com/pphlogger.php?id=XXXXXXX&st=img"></noscript>
<script language="javascript" src="http://track.freewebcounter.com/cookie.js"></script>
I have tried contacting the webmaster@freewebcounter.com - user unknown.
I check whois and contacted them - user unknown.
I checked with their host, and can get no reply.
There are references to http://gg-s.com in the .js and .php files. gg-s.com is a postage stamp collectors site, and there is a reference to http://gg-s.compphlogger.php/ in the *.js.
Well, I'm probably going overboard here, but I'm really curious about this and would like to get some feedback, if anyone would mind taking the time.
Thanks a bunch.
