check if gd 1.8 is installed?

how do i find out if the server my pages are on has gc 1.8 installed?
i need it, but the retailer who i got the webspace from doesnt know if the server has it installed either.

Usually Configure Command has the version of gd. If not, look for a GD section. That should give you the version.
