Dynamically turn off Optimizer?

Hi there.

We have our site with a hosting company that has Optimizer on. Is it possible to switch off Optimizer when our scripts run (ie dynamically with a .htaccess file or something)?

Do you mean the Zend optimizer?

I don't think that's possible.
But why would you ever want to turn that off in the first place?

OK, here's why 🙂 .....

We have developed a .so file that we want to run dynamically and it works great on our internal Linux machine. Problem is that ZendOptimizer stops it from working if it's installed. As we run our main sites on a hosting service (which is great) that uses ZendOptimizer I was wondering if we could turn it off for only our sites. That's why. Can you help?

Well obviously you're not going to be able to turn it off through PHP (PHP is executed after it has been parsed by the optimizer)

so the only thing you can do is ask your host to setup a seperate webserver without the optimizer just for you.

PS have you tried contacting the zend boys to find out why it is stopping your so?

I was wondering if using .htaccess it could be switched off before processing.

I've left messages on the Zend forums, but nobody has replied to either message yet (on in the Optimizer forum).

I read elsewhere that if you have Optimizer on that it stops running 3rd party dynamic stuff, so maybe its a protection thing.
