Using a Palm for making PHP Programs

I just got the Treo and I want to type my PHP scripts/programs while travelling.

I noticed a few things.

Memo must be .txt files only
Memo takes a maximum of 4K file size.

What program can I get to input/edit PHP code on my PalmOS while I'm on the road?

well, you can create seperate text files with part sof the php file and then upload them to your comp and put them together. I'd do that if I had a Palm!

The Treo has a cell phone in it. So its a PDA with a cell phone. (16 MB memory)

I need it for my customer database, telephone calls and script editing.

So you guys are telling me the ONLY solution is this ridiculous Memo program (4K max TXT files)? I see .doc Word programs that handle larger files. You know what that means - import it into Word and let microsoft loose on changing the " to curled quotes, etc.

There is no other HTML/PHP/Script editor program out there for the PalmOS? That sounds insane! Tekkies carry this stuff around all the time.

If you take maybe 5.4 seconds to look on palmgear.com you'll see a sh*tload of editor that can handle files as large as you like, the 4k limit has been breached a looong time ago. Why aren't there PHP editors for palm? well why would you want a PHP editor if you don't have an apache to run PHP on? can you get mysql/postgreSQL on a palm? nope. so what's the point of having a PHP editor? 🙂

I do my 'on-the-move' editing on my laptop, much more easier than trying to tap the right character on a palm. And it has a nifty IRDB interface to my phone.

Get yourself a Toshiba Libretto, a little larger than your PDA, but a sh*tload more functionality (you can even run linux on it)

I'm new to this palm thing. So download sites are helpful to me.

As for the Toshiba - it doesn't have a cell phone. Keep in mind, I'm the following:

A Programmer/Webmaster
A CEO
A Salesman
A BookKeeper

and much more.....

So simplicity is what works for me - the Treo seems to have it.
