Can't have Predefined variables??!

How come I can't use those Predefined variables like $REQUEST_URI, $PHP_SELF ...? They are all empty string. However, if I upload to a server from a host service that I paid for. They all worked well. Is that true that those Predefined variables won't exist if I run php in a computer, not a server. I don't understand this. Please help.

Whixh variables are defined depends from the server software.
I use Xitami to work offline and the variables are little different ones from the server with apache...

How are you accssing these vars? they are globals, they are not avaialbel inside functions, and they are only available if your php configuration has 'register globals' enabled.

Try accessing the vars the proper way:
echo $HTTP_SERVER_VARS['REQUEST_URI'];

Well, I got it works now, don't understand why. I just restart the PC and everything fine!!
