How does this forum work?

Hey me again. Ok next question I am sure you all will get a nice kick out of. Am I just stupid? I was wondering how does this forum work? Like when I am typing in this nice box right here and I do a

hard return twice and brings me down here

then down here

then down here.... and so on. When people view this message it comes out like how I typed it. HOW DO YOU DO THAT? Is there something that I should have read and just neglected to? Cause I feel sorta stupid. Can someone help. I know that this isn't one of my more promising questions or posts. But I cannot find the answer on my own. Thanks!
