Anyone seen corrupted $HTTP_REFERER?

I am having a bit of a spat with my Hosting service. They say it's my code and I says it's their set-up sort of thing. I need some wisdom to track down the real issue.

The problem is that some of my requests, come to me with a $HTTP_REFERER value of "http://www.myhost.com:2086/scripts/command". When this happens it seems to affect around 30% of requests but with no real discernable pattern.

The real problem is that it is screwing up my link tracking as the corruption also removes the ?source=linksite I need to work out who to pay what.

The problem surfaces about once a fortnight and for a couple of days at a time then seems to go away.

Anyone got any ideas?

ever tried telneting to port 2086 and see what pops it's head out?

not sure if it will solve anything, but if I saw a port like that resolving to my namespace, I'd be a little curious...

You could also check your apache .conf files to see if there's a vhost setup for port 2086, seems Apache thinks that a valid request from that domain.
