Using SSL

If I am implementing my php on a server that has SSL support will it be put into action without having to call it from the code? Or, will I have to code it appropriately?

I'm hosting my site on a linux server with OpenSSL.

you need to load the page as https://foo rather than http://foo

you can also force cookies to be sent via ssl by setting the https field to 1 (it's all in the manual)

hm. konqueror gave me a "process died unexpectedly" which is the general indicator that you don't have an ssl-capable server (or that you don't have a virt host for that domain or that something is configured wrong).

first step here is to do a phpinfo() and see if you have a variable https that is set to "on". if you don't then there's no ssl.
