run imap function

hello guys,

i read from references book that imap function can read POP3 email using imap_open

i want to know, is it need to install imap server to run this function or something ?

because in my web hosting, they dont support imap function.

If your hosting company is using unix, they must compile PHP with the IMAP functions as it's not generally done in the standard package.

If it's under Windows (unlikely), then they need to uncomment the line extension=php_imap.dll
