Preg_replace problem

I want to replace 30 uppercase characters into lowercase in a long string. The standart functions doesn't seem to work for me, because the string csontains cyrilic characters and the servers is under linux. How do i replace "QWERTY" ("??????") with "qwerty" ("??????") with preg? Can i do it with only one call ?

10 for the tip, However i found the way to do it easy:

$term="sdasdsa????????";

$upper_term = strtr(strtoupper($term),
"??????????????????????????????",
"??????????????????????????????");

$lower_term = strtr(strtolower($term),
"??????????????????????????????",
"??????????????????????????????");

where the "???" are all the letters in the cyriliic alphabet. I hope this hopes someone.
