replacing "?" with "&#63;"

I tried this with a ereg_replace on the
variable, but it doesnt seem to be working.

it gives me:
REG_BADRPT: repetition-operator operand invalid ... etc.

Im trying to replace the invalid file name
characters in windows, with the html equivilant.

Any help is appreciated. 🙂

is there a reason you can't use the php function str_replace() instead of ereg_replace ?

ie:

$variable=str_replace("?","&#63",$variable);

let me know if this doesn't work.

Why not use html_specialchars()?
This function will convert any special char to it HTML entity for you.

You can also take a few minutes to just browse the functions in the manual.

Just reading the function names gives you a pretty good idea of what the functions do.

Knowing what functions are available will give you new ideas for scripts and solutions to problems you had in the past.
