HTTP_WEFERER?

I have 'upgraded' to Windows XP Pro, and change my connection from modem to cable modem. Since make these transitions, the scripts I once ran on Windows ME without error, seem to acting quite strange on windows XP. Some pages which I have uploaded to tripod.co.uk are behaving odd to.
I have used the print_r function to print the GLOBALS variable, and POSTED variables are not available, and the HTTP_REFERER is absent. In its place is a coded variable called HTTP_WEFERER. Is this PHP, Windows XP or could it be because I am using IE6 to view these scripts. Either way it is still baffling and need to get it sorted.

Norton changes: HTTP_REFERER = http://www.domain.co.uk
to: HTTP_WEFERER = KJVZCMHVIBGDADRZFSQHYUCDDJBLVLMHAALPT
HTTP_WEFERER appears to always be an uppercase [A-Z] random character set.
