PLEASE help me! PHP+SSL

Hello.

I told a friend of mine who was making a site for a non-profit race "make a secure form to allow people to sign up with credit cards? sure, no problem!"

What I want to do, bottom line, is take a form, pass it to a php page that will write a file or something to hold the info. Then securely connect to that info so the people at the office can run the numbers.

All I know for sure is that the server they are on has a regular server (topekatinman.com) and a SECURE SERVER that is located at an address like "fate.secure-server.net". (its not that exactly).

IS THERE ANYONE WHO CAN SHED LIGHT ON HOW TO DO THIS??? I have read a half a million articles online and am nearing the end of my rope.

I have tried thus:

Connecting to the "secure server" via FTP, but it just shows the same stuff on the non-secure server.

Tried putting up an HTML form and submitting it via the "https://secure-server.net/receiver.php" with a receiver.php page on the server, but it gives me a "forbidden access".

Tried accessing the secure server. Nothing comes up unless I do a https://topekatinman.com and then I get a certificate verfication, but nothing comes up.

PLEASE someone help me. I have looked at all the books I own or could get my hands on. I have read soo many articles online. I just need some little bit of help...

if yr getting a certificate warning when you hit https://topekatinman.com but access errors on the supposed ssl server then i would think that topekatinman.com is yr actual ssl server.

try running a phpinfo() on both of them and look to see if $HTTPS is set to "on" when you view it as https.
