MySql Multiple Inserts

Ok. Being kind of new at this, I'm wondering if there s a quick & dirty way to do some multiple inserts with PHP/MYSQL.

Say you have a product price list, 100 products.
Prices change quite a bit every week, so management wants to have an idea at the end of year,
1. Avg product price,
2. Lowest product price
3. Highest prod. price

Ok. So I thought, fine. I slapped up a
product table, a category table, a week table ( just keeps track of date & week id,
& finally,wpl table ( weekly price list)wich should contain around 5-6,000 records (52 weeks * 100 products) at the end of the year.
No prob for MySql right?
But. How does one go about doing the multiple insert in MySql?! I've got this one closed to nailed down but a hint or a nod in the right direction would be appreciated.

If you just want to copy the records then you can do a direct insert:

INSERT INTO archive SELECT * FROM pricelist;

You'll have to change the fields obviously, or you'll get tons of duplicate records with no way of knowing which date the are from.
