PHP 4.2.0

Hi there!
I'd like to know how can I get my scripts working smoothly on php 4.2.0 as it do on older versions? I tried to run my forum script on the new version and nothing is working....I know it's due the global variables, but I was wondering if is there a easy way to get thru this?

maybe u should try setting the option
enable_global_var s in the php.ini conf file.

The hosts tend to do this as well??
