accessing secure directory

Hi,

I'm building an Intranet and I have encounter a small problem. The thing I have to do is..

(Already done)
Connecting to an Oracle server and query for file name store in database.

(To be done)
With those files names, connect to another server on a secure directory to access those files.

The thing is that I dont know how to specify a user name and password for a directory.

If anyone could help I would be please

I have the same problem with you some days ago.now I dealed with it in the following method:

the filename in database is safety ,means the directory is not in the HTTP control.when the visitor click the file.system link a temp name from the real safety filename in a not safe directory.
it is simple!
