MySQL connection problem

Dear all,

I have installed php-4.2, apache, phplib and mysql3.23. When i try to connect to mysql using php script, i got the following error

Warning: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (110) in /var/www/php/db_mysql.inc on line 73
Database error: pconnect(localhost, root, $Password) failed.
MySQL Error: ()
Session halted.

Is there any solution? Please kindly advise

• mySQL was not running;
• password was incorrect;
• user 'root' doesn't exist (are you running Windows or Nix?);
• you tried to access a database that doesn't exist;
• you tried to access a database that exists, but mistyped its name in the query;
• something else was wrong;
• something else was right but another thing was wrong.

Many possibilities. Most likely, one of more of the first three.

i am using linux. and i have checked my system.

1. Mysql is running cuz i see the daemon when i use "ps" command. and i can login with "root" to access the database and table with "mysql -u root -p"

2. The database is exist and also no mistyped.

i am still finding the solution for this.
