PHP & MySQL connect error

Hello,

When i connect to my MySQL DB and i check my site, i get the two following warnings:

"Access denied for user: 'citma_files@localhost' (Using password: YES)"

"MySQL Connection Failed: Access denied for user: 'citma_files@localhost'"

My DB is protected with a password and an username.
All query's do work but i get the warnings 🙁 .... verry annoying..

does anyone know w'hat i'm doing wrong?
(or had the same problem)

This may sound stupid and I am only guessing but... Try it without a password and username.

The reason I say this is because if the queries work anyway even though you are getting the error would suggest that they are working while you hav't logged on as a user.

Ah well only guessing, probably a load of bs.

hahaha, yes i could do this BUT..... ( there's always a but...)

My site is running on an own server and not here with me(at home). There are more users that have access to the db and therefore i u would like to use a password. And then other guy's cant't connect either (without the password).
So i do have a reason of using an password.

It's possible to suppress the warnings with an "@" but i rather fixed this minor problem..

Looks like you need to grant permission to user 'citma_files@localhost':

GRANT ALL ON yourDBName.* TO citma_files@localhost INDENTIFIED BY 'yourPassword';

OR something similiar, check the mysql manual for complete options for GRANT.

Well..... i followed your advise Chow, but is doesn't matter. 🙁

I gave the user full permission, double checked my settings but the warnings stay.

Somehow, i don't think the settings create the warnings....
Maybe youy must use your loopback ip eg localhost?

i'll try something out..

i keeps telling i don't have permission to the db, access denied:

But where does PHP(or MySQL) checks my access rights?!

I'm now deleting all the data in the mysql-user table and add just myself as user.

If it works, i'll let you know

Hmmmm...... (i'm hard thinking...)

I think (duh) that the password from the mysql user table is the key to our problem.

I deleted the content of the whole table and just added myself... with password. Still warnings...
The i deleted my password (in mysql and in my mysql_connect).
Then it worked.

The question is now, HOW does php/mysql checks your password?
Does it creates an md5 (or something simular) from your password and then checks it or does it just checks your password without doing nothing?
Does anyone knows?
