Latest STABLE PHP?

What is the latest stable PHP version to get? I keep seeing new updates and new versions, but they are always fixing tons of problems in a previous unstable version... so who's to say the current 'fix' doesn't introduce a whole slew of nastiness itself?

So... I am left amis, what is the actual latest STABLE working php version to get???

Being that I have just installed 4.2.1 and am having quite a few problems with it, I would recommend using 4.1.2. We are running that as our stable release and it has not given us one lick of trouble. It does have a few issues and bugs, but it's a matter of discerning if they will effect you or not. We will be sticking with that till I find more info on the newest release and try to iron out our problems.
Any piece of software in the universe is going to have it's share of releases, bug fixes, patches and the like. Just ask Microsoft, they're the bug/patch/upgrade kings. It is unfortuanately the way it goes. At least you don't have to pay for Open Source and the quality is just as good, usually better. Do what you're doing right now - ask around for some advice on which version to go with, and you'll end up with a good one.

Yeah, bugs are innevitable ... just 'which bugs' can you live with at the moment =)

Basically, I want something stable, wont just die on itself out of the blue for no good reason. This is why I use linux/apache/php instead of nt/iis/dbms.

Currently I use 4.0.6 (fixed for upload bug). Its fine and all, but the new features of 4.1+ are pushing me into the realm of "I would surly like THAT feature"... but the price of getting the feature is daunting me right now on the bug issues heh.

I will keep poking around, thanks for your real-life experience note. Will keep it in mind.
