new php can not connect to mysql

I just update my php4.06 to 4.21 and I have no problem at all when recompile the apache but strange thing just happen after I start the new apache which my old coding wont connect to mysql anymore thus I have to switch back to the old apache

anyone can help me?

stick to the old version until the problem has been fixed. Im running 4.1.3-dev and it works fine with apache and mysql.
