which editors do you use?

so which editors is everybody here using? i use handyHTML which actually works really well - it would be nice though if it supported php commands a bit better... give me some suggestions!

I would recommend UltraEdit or PHP Edit

I really like BBEdit, unfortunately, it's not for Windows. It allows you to edit files remotely (via FTP), as well as having built-in support for dozens of languages (and is also expandable).

Homesite and it's cousins ColdFusion/JRun Studio all work nicely in a Win32 environment. There is also TextPad and UltraEdit, both of which are excellent.

Most of the Win32 editors that are specifically for PHP are immature. There are exceptions such as NuSphere's but I'm not dropping $300 for functionality that I can do in Vi.(and already own CF Studio at the office).

Under X windows there is also Quanta.Their commercial "gold" version for Win32 might be worth looking into. It's a HomeSite clone for the most part, though not as functional yet. If you plan to spend $ HomeSite is hard to beat.

In a mixed environment (Linux/*nix & Win32) then bouncing between HomeSite and Quanta is pretty straigh forward.

Edit Plus v2.10c for W32 (www.editplus.com)

The best php&html editor I've seen. Freeware. Very stable and without all kinds of stupid bells and whistles.

I've tried to use PHPed, but it crashes all the time and the gui isn't very good.

I agree with u sass, I´ve been using Editplus for more than a year now and could not live without it...

It is small, fast and stable, what else would you ask for?
