Access to SQL

Can anyone advise if I am heading down the wrong track here. I want to build a database in which will be quite a bit of data. If I create the d/base in Access, can I then transfer it to sql, so that it can be used within a website so users can perform online searches on the d/base. If possible, what program/s do I need? (Beside MS Access)

I prefer to use MySQL since it works closely with PHP. It is of course a reliable DBMS that you can use to store any data like what you did by using Ms Access.
