error unterminated string constant

i'm testing my script and i'm getting an error that i cant debug. does anyone know what this means

ERROR:Unterminated string constant

i've looked at line 20 but cant make head nor tails of it.
the error occurs when i want to change a users details. it will let me change all the other detail OK, but gives this error when i try to change the customer ID.

any advice please

This is where I put echo's all over the place as line 20 may be in an include. Most of all I'd try and echo the sql string you have built. I'd guess that you get this error when trying do the update and it's got all it's quotes muddled.

Also check that you're addingslashes where it's appropriate.
