Sending Variables Through URL

I have used PHP for a long long time but there has always ben one thing i have never had a chance to ask you guys...

Usually a variable is send like this:
script.php?variable=value

I have seen scripts on the net that only need to send one variable and just send the value:
script.php?value

How do we receive this value? Is it put into a variable?

This is still a variable name. Use isset() to check its existance only.
