formatting new line........

Here is my situation: I have created a textarea and I would like to display the output in a table. I wonder why I got one-line-result,in which the message continued to be shown horizontally even it's exceeded the table width =100%.
I'm thinking if it is possible to format the output using new line. I've tried nl2br but it didn't work.THANK YOU.

The NOWRAP attribute (HTML) might be what you're looking for. <td NOWRAP>

And all the text puts in one single big line.
