Ok, I've done my share of sites using html, javascript, ssi, and so on. And I think it's time I move on to databasing it all, so why not php?

What do I need to start? Do I need to download something like MySQL or whatever? I'm kind of lost when it comes to this kind of stuff.

i'm new to this too and having my fair share of problems!
buy a book on php, which i presume was your first step anyhow. download php and mysql from their websites and also get a server you can run on your pc without having to go online. Apache is probably best as it is most widely used, but i couldn't figure out how to configure it so i'm using Xitami which is super simple to use.
