extracting <img> tags from a file

Hi,

I m very new to PHP so please forgive me if this is a simple question.

I'v tried using preg_match("/<img, but failed. I need to extract the lines with the <img> tags plus the image chunk from a html file.

Could someone please help me.

You can doi it with regexp, preg_match is correct. The tricky part is to understand the regexp...

On the fly:
"/<img(.?)>/i"
works for me and should do your job:
/.../ are the expression delemiters
/../i is for case insesitive search (to find <IMG and <img)
<img is the beginning of the expression you want
. matches any kind of char
. matches any kind of char as often it can (greediness)
(.*?) matches minimal number of chars (reverse greediness)
and finally > is the ending of <img ...>

Read the manual! I did... and understood as much I needed!!
