A script that executes itself every day?

I want my site to email statistics at the same time every day....

It seems to me that PHP only executes in response to server activity - but is there a way to get a mail(stuff); function to run itself at 5.00pm every day regardless of server activity?

Check with your hosting Co. if you have access to cron (crontab). If so do a search on cron for how to use.
