PHP htaccess

Hi everyone,

I have a php file in a directory that is password protected (.htaccess) and I like to send username/password in my PHP file so that users don't get the popup. Does anyone know I can send a username/password to a protected area of my website?

I believe that if you send username:[e-mail] that will work, but if you do this, why have any security at all?

Sorry - i'm not in a position to offer you the answer you're looking for, but i do have a very similar one myself! I put a question very similar to yours on PHPBuilder, called SSL Stumper - and got no resonce. I'm looking to do the same thing as you, just with SSL, not .htaccess. I want to be able to link to that page without the user typing in the passwrod and username for that page. I have been looking at using a script with some socket stuff in it as a kind of intermediary page, but with little success. If and when i find anything useful - or even a solution - i'll ledt you know. Any chance you could do the same for me?!?!?
