Hi, I need some serious help here. I've just signed up for a Virtual Dedicated Server. So far it's ok. I'm pretty new to fooling around in Unix, so I don't want to mess it up. In any case, I asked the hosting company to upgrade my PHP from I think it is 4.06 to 4.11 or higher, because on my other virtually hosted sites, I used PHP 4.11 with Sablotron extensions and expat to parse XML with PHP server side, since I believe it is only that version of PHP which comes with those extensions. When I asked the webhost, he said that installing it would cause the system to become unstable. I can't believe this is true. But is it? I don't want to do it myself and mess my system up. So, is there any way to get around this - can I install Sablotron and expat seperately, and will that do the same job as using the PHP with those extensions? How would I go about doing this, and is it complicated? Please help!!!!
Thanks so much,
Craig
ps. if you could CC my email address so I know I got a response I'd really apprecaite it, if not no big deal.
