sendmail form the command line

morning folks

how do you send a simple email from the command shell to some email address

does it start like this

/usr/sbin/sendmail ....

where does the email and message fit into the above syntax ?

You need to buy a basic introductory book on the Unix operating system. Sendmail is not intended for users. There are dozens of mail user agents; try "man mail" for instructions on one of them.

this command is to be issued on the server using ssh to test that sendmail is configured correctly and can send a message to my email server for later retreival

when i look in var/log/maillog

i notice that email is malformed with 'to:'
having message text etc..

how do you form this command correctly

/usr/sbin/sendmail email , message ??
