PhP Newbie

Hi,

I am new to PhP,coming from VB world. I got a mate to install PhP4.1 and HTML-KIT on my PC and not sure how to start using it. I have in mind a small system to write as a practice session but not sure how or where to begin. Could someone please help me, Ta.

Yep,

start with

<head>
<title>First Effor</title>

?>
</body>

then read up on some form tutorials and add them to the script and let it grow from there.

Do you have a webserver setup with PHP installed and running or did you just install PHP on your local machine without a webserver?

Unless you use the GTK to write apps you won't be able to do much until you get the webserver up. Are you using IIS or Apache? Are you going to run the webserver on your windows box or another server? If it's on another server will it be windows or linux or something else?

You can run through some of the tutorials, but I imagine it will be hard to see much without a webserver running PHP first.

Hi kbdrand,
What I have installed on my PC is Windows based PhP not the one that runs off Linux backbone. From what I can gathered there is no IIS or Apache webserver installed.

Am I against the wall with these setup ??
