Convert Gif ->jpg

I'm a newbie in php. I use the graphic library GD 1.8.

I would like to convert a gif into a jpeg or otherwise a bmp into a jpg (using jpg2wbmp but it doesn't work) .

Moreover the imagecreatefromgif and imagegif functions doesnt work for an unknown reason however working for jpg and png.

If somebody can help me, I would be very pleaseant.

Gif support was removed in GD 1.6, i think, because of copyright issues. Sorry, no luck with gif files.
