Commercial PHP Scripts

Just an interesting discussion for everyone, is there a market place for open source commercial php scripts.

Examples of these are VBulletin and other forums software that charge around $60 a year.

I haev to say I am considering selling some scripts and was wondering if people would pay for scripts if they where at a minimal charge of say $10-$20.

I have asked the same question many times. I personally believe that if you charge $10-20 for every download, you will not have many customers. Perhaps you should consider giving free download and then charge $20 for certain services you can render over the net...try it out, good luck!

i have to say i'm totally against it sorry 🙂 the whole ethos behind php is that it is open source, and this is where it's great strength lies. from your point of view, it will also probably slow down the development of your script, since there will be fewer people willing to fix security holes and help you out with your program etc. These are just my personal feelings on it - if you can get it to work, then i say great for you, go for it. I just think it's not in the best interests of the community, that's all.
