I second sarah,
I'm fomr the UK and i have integrated a clients site with World Pay. Very simple to do.
Also the important thing to remember is that you are not actually taking the credit card details but World Pay is. They have a very secure system and to date i have not had problems with them

www.worldpay.com does a good job.
Easy to set up, manage and reliable. We've used them for a year now and no complaints. Great support too. When we first started we couldn't get some of the callbacks working and their guy rang me, checked out the calls, sent me test strings etc and when we were ready to go waited on the phone while I added the refund policy clause to my page and hit his OK button so that we were live before a holiday break gaining us about 5 days of productivity.
We can have our own emails sent to users as well or instead of theirs and the callback means we can save transaction data into our database.
We also accept payment in several currencies. Our price is displayed in US dollars but the user can select the currency they want to pay with and see the amount they will be billed, no worries about exchange rates changing the amounts.
