Reading PDF files

Hi.
I am tring to read and display pdf files on a web page. The location of pdf files are not within web directory. For security reason I created a pdf dirctory at the same level as web directory(htdoc).
Is there a way to read pdf files from one of php files and display them in a browser.

try passthru() or fpassthru(), and don't forget to push the content-type header so the browser knows what to do with the file when it gets it.
