Permission Problem

sir
i have problem in file permission.
i have a mail server which receive mail
file and drop it in the respected directory.
but when i want to read it it give
me error of permission denied .
when i change permission manually then it
start reading.
how can i change permission to browser or
other using php scripts.
have any idea.plz response me.

Sorry you can not do this as only the root user can change permission and ownership of files. Normally when a web browser is accessing a server they are the web or www user, and the files they are accessing are owned by root or admin, or other if it a mail account, only root/admin can change the file ownership and permissions. Never the less you could try:

exec("chown username path/to/filename");
or
exec("chmod 777 path/to/filename");

in your php code and see if it works

i do everything to do it,but can't succeed.
Actually i received a mail from qmail
server which put in the new directory and
i give all permission to the new directory
but when i want to read it through php

via browser ,it give me error like this.

Permission denied in /var/www/html/iGENUS/list.php

this is the main problem,sir plz tell me
any other idea what i do.
chown and chmod condition fails here
bcz its user /group is vpopmail/vchkpw.
sir have u any idea.
