MySQL ERROR

Hi

could somebody shed some light on this MySQL error for me ?

Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource

oh yeh and this is the SQL I am using

 $sql = "UPDATE swa_members (name, pass_word, icq, email, img, country, notes)
         VALUES ('$name2', '$pass_word2 ', '$icq2', '$email2', '$img2', '$country2', '$games_played', '$notes2')
         WHERE id='$id'
         LIMIT 1";

I think you have 7 column names to update and you're trying to update 8 columns at values.

name, pass_word, icq, email, img, country, notes

'$name2', '$pass_word2 ', '$icq2', '$email2', '$img2', '$country2', '$games_played', '$notes2'

If games_played is in the table, you must put it on the first line.

I think you may want to read the MySQL manual for a bit,
because you are using the INSERT syntax with an UPDATE command.

That won't work.

Also, use some error checking like this:

if (!$result=mysql_query("select blabla"))
{
echo "ERROR<BR>\n";
echo mysql_error();
}
else
{

work with results.

};

The UPDATE syntax is:

$sql="UPDATE swa_members SET name='$name2', pass_word='$pass_word2', icq='$icq2', email='$email2', img='$img2', country='$country2', notes='$notes2' WHERE id='$id' LIMIT 1";
