mysql.server isn't running

Hi there !

Why can't I execute mysql.server althoug I have changed the attributes with the chmod command ?

And where can I get a mysql.sock file ?

Yes, but after that mysql is ended immediatley. After that I still can't start mysql (same error :can't connect to localhost)
But even though there is a sock-file in the directory, mysql doesn't seem to be able to use it.
I just can't run mysqld; so there is no process running at all...
How can get it started ?

I had the same problem when i tried to setup
Mysql on Redhat 7.0 needless to say I went back to the tried and true Redhat 6.2 and had no problem. What versions are you using?
