hi, have a small prob...

after i struggled with my iis-php404pl1 combination to make php find all my oci-extensions (i setted a few paths...), now it does not really connect to the local oracle-installation.

when i say $con = ocilogon("scott","tiger","bla"), oracle returns ORA-12640.

on the same machine callin "sqlplus scott/tiger@bla" it connects immediately.

any ideas?

acutally i did.

ORA-12640 Authentication adapter initialization failed

Cause: The function specified in the authentication table entry for the ervice failed.

Action: Enable tracing to determine the exact error.

hi.

i think i've fixed the prob:

the server was in the domain.
that caused ownership/rights trouble
now it runs standalone, and everything's fine :o)

I face the same problem like you.
I can connect to database from SQL/Plus using
scott/tiger@db but when I call ocilogon("scott","tiger","db") error is:_oci_open_server: ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed

my flatform : Oracle 8i, win2000,
I have try logon as stand alone mode but not successful. Could you help me?

My oracle server was working fine and suddenly I cannot connect to my database with the same error. How do I fix it? I am running 8i on win2k.

Try changing the executing user of the webbserver process (i.e. dont use IUSR for IIS).

This is what I did to get it to work:

Using the dialog
[Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Internet Services Manager -> right click
on Default Web Site -> Directory Security],

click to Edit... anonymous access and authentication control,
uncheck 'Integrated Windows authentication' (only 'Anonymous access' should be checked.

Also click to Edit... 'Account used for
anonymous access', make sure the Username is IUSR_MACHINENAME where you replace
MACHINENAME with the name of your computer.

Also uncheck 'Allow IIS to control password).

I,ve spent 1 hour trying to connect to Oracle and 1 hour looking for answer on the net when I find Nils' posting.

I uncheck the 'Account used for
anonymous access' option and suddenly, it worked! :-)

Was working fine with WORKGROUP settings
