how to get last record from database?

hi 🙂 all i want is to retrieve date and title of last post added to the table (and later maybe couple things more 😉 but mysql dosent accept that syntax

SELECT LAST(data) AS data, LAST(title) AS title FROM posts WHERE nrforum=1;

also i'd tried LAST_INSERT_ID but id gives me date of last post, but title returns 0. dunno what to do, so any help will be much appreciated

try this:

SELECT data, title FROM posts WHERE nrforum=1 ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 1,1

where id is your primarykey or the timestamp of the post

The syntax ist logical an clear to me, but it didn´t worked for me, sorry.

I do an insert in to the table first and later in the same script I want to get the last record from the same table.

I use the LIMIT Option (1,1) as u told me. I always gets the record BEFORE the last one. Always and ever.

Inserts into MySQL DBs are proceeded BEFORE select querys so it can not be, that the record isn´t present at the select querey time.

I also tried a sleep(10); command, to give MySQL time to insert the Data, no work ;-((

if i get rid of the LIMIT Option it works. He gives me the correct last Row. But the Table is huge and i don´t want My SQL to parse 5000 records....

Any suggestions?
